Product Description
Do away with your space-consuming workout equipment and consolidate to an innovative Bowflex SelectTech 1090 adjustable dumbbell. Offering adjustable
resistance from 10 pounds all the way up to 90 pounds (in 5-pound increments), the SelectTech 1090 does the work of
multiple dumbbells in one, so you don't need to dedicate more than a few feet of space to your workout area. The
1090 dumbbell is outfitted with a single handle connected to a dial mechanism. As you turn the dial upward, the
handle latches on to additional weight plates, with an easy-to-read display telling you how much weight you've
chosen. At lighter weights, you can perform basic toning and strength exercises, such as curls and raises, while at
heavier weights, you can do more demanding lifts like shrugs and lunges. Best of all, you won't have to buy new
dumbbells as you get stronger, as the SelectTech 1090s provide all the weight you need.

So I bought these around 3 or 4 months ago, so I have had time to really get to know them I guess you could
say.
First off, they are amazing dumbbells, I don't know why I hesitated so long to get a pair. They are good for
anyone who may have done weightlifting in the past. I am a college student, and had recently fallen out of my high
school routine of exercise. I have a small room, consisting of a bed, a 4 position bench, and the dumbbells. The
room is not cramped, everything fits fine, and it is just ideal for me. I can wake up in the morning maybe an hour
before I have to go to class and do a small upper body workout with ease. I would recommend these to anyone in
college who just wants to lift to keep healthy (we all know that dining hall food does funny stuff to us). I also
recommend them to anyone who hates going to the gym because of all the idiots who seem to flock there. This has
just been my observation on my campus. These dumbbells are quite possibly the best exercise equipment I have ever
bought.
The only gripes I have on these dumbbells is that the grips are metal. I have small hands and it was like the
grips were cutting into my hands. I just got some of that medical gauze that sticks to itself and wrapped the
handles in that. Works amazing now. The last gripe is that the dumbbells are MAYBE just a little too wide. I
especially notice this on bench pressing, but it is not a major flaw. Besides, if they were smaller you couldn't
put all 90 lbs on right? :)
These dumbbells will get you wherever you want to go in physical fitness. The range is great, very easy to use,
and just a very good value. Fix the metal grips and these dumbbells will become your best friends.

I bought one to give it a try, I figured that if I didn't like it it would be easy to justify the loss. I like it
for the most part, compact is nice for my place and it is much nicer then dealing with the big weight "trees".
Based on my experience I am going to buy the other one.
The one thing that I noticed as I was using this is I am glad I didn't buy the Selecttech 552 (or any other
system that only goes to 50 lbs.). Although there are many exercises that I don't need 90 lbs. there are some that
50 lbs. would get really light really fast (back exercises).
These seem to be very popular and compared to other similar systems this seems durable (though I wouldn't drop
it).
I do agree the handles aren't that comfortable. The length is a little annoying. But either can be fixed with a
little imagination.
I did also buy the stand which is nice... though not needed. You can easily pick up from the ground (with your
legs not your back).

I bought the 1090's about five months ago. No regrets. They are sturdy, well built and sylish if your going to have
them out where guests might see your workout area. The optional stand you can buy for them is highly recommended by
me. Saves your back after each lift.
If you're doing any type of full body workout, instead of just isolation moves, you know that changing the weights
for each move is a pain. These puppies allow quick, simple changes and you move through your circuit with ease. For
those who think the price is a little high, I was sticker shocked also but Amazon gave me a great deal on them
rather than buying them directly from Bowflex. But no matter what you pay from either seller, these are worth it.
